As I was helping him out I noticed a picture of something similar to this and asked him
"Hey bro, what the hell is this suppose to be?"
"Oh that's a giant ground sloth."
"You're shitting me."
"Nope, they actually existed around here a couple thousand years ago."
So there you have it folks, giant sloths were a thing that actually existed.

Yup, and some of the largest land animals ever. Like (almost?) all the megafauna, their disappearance in an area happens at just the same time as the appearance of early human hunters.

They have a full size one at some museum in Daytona I believe. MOAS or something like that.

They have a model of one here in a museum. It's impressive, but you also have to realize that Capybaras exist, and those are just giant Guinea Pigs.

I still maintain that I could take on any member of the sloth family in a fist fight, PAST or present...yeah, I'm looking at you extinct Giant Sloth.
